Your First Visit
Before Your First Appointment
Whether it’s an emergency or a scheduled first visit to Dental Line, we promise to be sensitive to your needs and never make you feel rushed. You can schedule your first appointment over the phone or through the website, whichever is more convenient for you. There are a few things a patient can do ahead of time to reduce anxiety and expedite their first dental experience at our clinic:
- We encourage you to browse our website and put together a list of questions our doctors and staff will gladly answer for you.
- Please make sure that you have your insurance card, ID, and all other relevant documents on hand for our front desk staff to make copies for your file.
- If you can bring or arrange for your dental records and x-rays from previous providers to be sent to us at ladentalline@gmail.com ahead of time, it would be incredibly helpful for our doctors to go over them before your visit.
- Your medical history is important! Please prepare the information on your current medications, allergies, medical devices, chronic conditions, past surgeries, and anything else that you feel is relevant to your dental treatment.
- Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time, especially if you prefer to fill out the new patient paperwork in the office.
During Your First Appointment
Typically, your first visit to Dental Line will consist of three steps:
- After completing your paperwork, a dental assistant will escort you to the treatment room and take digital x-rays. It is extremely important that x-rays are taken on the same day the doctor will see you as changes in your oral health happen quickly and the doctor needs to be aware of all the recent developments.
- The doctor will come in to review your x-rays and conduct a thorough dental exam, checking each tooth for cavities, gaps between teeth and gums, infection, and other issues. After completing the exam, the doctor will share their findings with you, listen to and address your concerns, offer you treatment options, and finally, discuss and confirm the treatment plan with you. You can rest assured that the doctor will do their best to fully accommodate your needs. Your voice is the most important one when it comes to your health.
- After the exam, you will meet with our treatment coordinator who will make financial arrangements. The coordinator will provide details on prices, your insurance coverage, and possible financing options to cover your treatment.
- If requested and/or needed, one of our highly skilled dental hygienists will give you a cleaning on your first visit. The hygienist will perform the oral health screening, remove plaque and tartar buildup, as well as clean and polish your teeth.
After Your First Appointment
After scheduling your next appointment and going home, please don’t hesitate to call the office if you have any questions after your first visit! Our staff will review the details of your financial arrangements and address any remaining questions you may have. If you had a dental cleaning and your mouth feels sore, we suggest taking over-the-counter pain relief medication.
